Blog Response #10

Take a moment to describe the main character of your book.  Introduce him/her to the blog.  How do you envision him/her?  What physical characteristics does he/she possess?  What personality traits does he/she have?  What does he/she use for motivation in your book?  How does he/she interact with those around him/her? What does your main character add to the story?  If this person truly existed in your world, would you hang out with him/her?  Would you even like this person?  When writing responses to the blogs of others, please try to make connections with the character or characters from your book.

  1. The book that I'm reading right now has more than one main character. But I decided to introduce Mr. Griffin, because without him the other characters wouldn't even be important. Mr. Griffin is a forty-one years old English teacher at Del Norte High. He is very strict and has really high expectations, he’s sort of a perfectionist when it comes to writing papers. He’s also pretty hard on his students and grading his students' papers makes him even more unpopular. He takes no excuses and it seems like he doesn’t care about his students, but he does in a way that isn’t immediately recognizable. He only wants his students to try their best, but that becomes his fatality.

  2. my main character's name is Amir and he is kind of quite and a little reserved. Amir's only friend is his neighbor Hassan. Amir does not have a lot of close relationships because he is not close with his dad and his mom died during childbirth. Amir adds a bit of wonder to the book because when reading i wonder what i would do if i were in his shoes!! i sometimes think i would like Amir but othertimes i dont really like him because at certain points of the book he portrays himself as better than Hassan because he is in a different social class

    2. I also read this book and yeah I agree 100% with both of you. Its sad how at times Amir thinks less of Hassan because of the social classes. I hope you are enjoying it! If not, keeping reading because it only gets better!

    3. The main character in my book, Arthur, does not have very many friends on earth either. He just never allowed himself to get close to anyone on earth. I also have no idea what I would do if I was in their shoes because it is a completely different world in my book. I am a little on and off with liking my character as well, but in the end I think that I like him.

  3. The main character in the book im reading is named Jayson. He is a middle school kid who i imagine him being a short kid. Jayson is one of the fastest kids at school and he is a pretty tough kid. He likes to keep to himself and when he plays basketball he plays angry. He uses winning the basketball championship for his motivation. He keeps to himself and doesnt really like talking to other people. I dont think i would really like my character because he keeps to himself.

  4. Anne is the main character in my book. She is the mom of the baby and all she really does is cry because of her daughter. she also destroys a lot of evidence. I think Anne is very skinny and pale with a red nose and droopy eye from crying all the time. She used to be fun and up beat now shes depressed. the only thing that motivates her is her daughter and even sometimes that is hard for her. Anne doesn't really interact with anyone because shes to heartbroken. She adds to the story by being able to sympathize with her. i would not like to hang out with her is real life because i think she would be very shy and she would bring her daughter along and all she does is cry. I dont know if i would like her, i feel like i would feel sorry for er but thats it.

    3. I am reading The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy and there is a character in my book who is also very depressed. His name is Marvin and he is a robot who was programmed to feel emotions. Marvin is more similar to Anne than you might think. Marvin is super depressed and just wants to turn himself off in a corner and do nothing for the rest of time. He tries not to interact with anyone because he thinks they all hate him. The only time he does anything or says anything is when people tell him to do something or ask him a question.

  8. I am reading Prodigy and there are two main characters named Day and June. Day is a criminal but all of the stuff he does he does for his family. If he steals something its either stuff like medicine to help his family or he steals something to sell to have money for his family. He is 15 and is the most wanted criminal. You also find out that Day isn't his real name. June is also 15 but is a famous soldier and extremely rich. She is the one that captures Day and interrogates him. The government told her that Day killed her brother but she slowly realizes that Day had nothing to with it. Her brother died because the Government had a soldier kill him. She helps Day escape and looses everything for him.

I see him as a middle schooler trying to figure out how his next day at school is going to be and what girls are gonna notice him when all of a sudden his world gets turned upside down. The author never really described his physical appearance of jonah. He just found out that he was one of the missing and now he is trying too figure out what that means. He seems like an alright kid if I were in his shoes I think I would be freaking out a little bit more than he would be he is pretty col headed.

  12. The main character of Friday Night Lights would have to be Boobie Miles. I would have to envision him as a stereotypical jock back in the day wearing the letterman jacket dating the cheerleader. I believe he is tall and built pretty stout. His motivation for football comes from the team and the town of Odessa. He seems like he interacts with the team very well and really tries his hardest for the sport. If Boobie was alive in real life I would not really hangout with him because I feel like he would only talk about football and although I like to watch football its not my life. I would maybe talk to him in school but would probably never hangout outside of school.

  13. The main character of the book is a human named Arthur. He is a mild looking middle aged man with a little grey hair. He is about average height, being rather thin with a light build. He doesn’t have many strong emotions unless he is under pressure, where he really comes through. He is a rather friendly guy without being too charming. The biggest thing he does for the story is simply be normal. It is one of the few things my mind can comprehend in a galaxy full of aliens. He is an average human who acts how an average human would, showing what normal people do in a world full of crazies. If Arthur existed in real life I would probably not hang out with him because he seems pretty boring without an interesting backstory.

  14. The main character in Where Things Come Back in a guy named Cullen. I envision him as a quit guy who likes to keep things to himself. It still kind of to early in the book to know about him, Cullen talks more about his family and the people around him then himself. If Cullen truly existed in my world i think I would just say hi to him once in a while talk to him once in awhile because he just seems like the type of person to be quite. I would like Cullen because he is to himself and seems nice.

  15. I'm reading the book The Lovely Bones and the main character in the book is Susie Salmon. She's a 14 year old girl whos really average, she's smart and very kind. She has a really normal life and family up until she was murdered. I picture her having dirty blonde curly hair and always having a book on her. All of her teachers loved her, she always participated although she was shy. Susie talks about everything differently than others, she sees things in a different perspective than normal people. If Susie existed I would probably hangout with her. I feel like I would like her although I think were very different.

  16. The Main character in my book For Whom the Bell Tolls is named Robert Jordan, and hes an explosives expert from Montana. He interacts almost coldly with others, and has quite an increased sense of knowledge compared to those around him, often critically thinking much more than his Spanish counterparts. He is a tall darker haired american, and also speaks fluent Spanish. He is well liked, but also feared, respected, and by some hated. He rarely acts on impulse, instead relying on his knowledge and know how for most situations.

  17. The main character in my book is named Johnny. He is a younger man but is very beaten up due to working. He shows remorse and sadness currently in the book due to him hitting someone in the face that was very close to him, just because he didnt want to hear the truth. And he shows sadness because he cant have the girl he wanted. 18. The main character in my book, A Long way Gone, is a 12 year young African boy. I envision him as a tall young boy with not much meat on his bones. I picture him as skinny because he didn't have much food when he was village hopping and running from the "rebels" or the war. Personality wise, he has a lot of mental strength maybe not so much physical strength, but he is very strong in the head. He proves that he has mental toughness because he is fighting a war at the age of 12!!!. That takes a lot of guts! My character is also really motivated. He stays with the village he came across and chose to stay there and fight the rebels so he could revenge the death of his family. The book didn't say his family is dead, but odds are that they have been killed by the rebels. I think my character would be really interesting guy to sit down with and chat about his life. It would be a great story to here about his life when he was 12 and fighting in a war against the rebels.

  19. I am reading the book Night and the main character in the book is Elie Wiesel. He is a 13 year old boy who is a jew during the holocaust. He is an average kid just trying to survive the holocaust. I picture him being short with brown hair. 20. The main character of my book is Artyom. Although his physical appearance is never really described on how he looks, he is a very meaningful character. Despite being roughly 20 years or so, he still has childlike moments. Artyom is a very good listener when it comes to stories, regardless of how absurd or horrifying it may be. Since his journey has just begun, he has very many second thoughts about what he is doing, and how he is regretting it. He feels that his inexperience will hinder what he is about to do. Although he does regret doing many things, he still trusts his family, friends, and even people he just met. Artyom seems like a pretty trustworthy friend to have in a dark post-apocalyptic Russian metro, filled with mutant rats, bandits, and even weird ghosts.

  21. The main character in my book is Noah, he is currently talking about the time he met the love of his life and they spent the entire summer together but towards the end of the summer she had to go back home. He wrote in a notebook every day, a letter for her. I imagine him tall, slim, muscular and dark hair. He likes hands on working, like construction type of working. He uses Allie for motivation, the fact that he will find her and she will love him. He doesn’t interact with many people, only when he goes to town or sees the neighbors. The main character is the baseline of the story, and if he existed in the world I would definitely hangout with him because talking about some of this stuff is great and we can help each other with the problems.

  22. In the book i'm reading there are two main characters Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. the book does not describe what they look like mostly because the novel is part of the Star Wars movie story. So picture younger versions of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan from the movies, if you have never seen the films Qui-Gon was played by Liam Neeson and Obi-Wan was played by Ewan Mcgregor. Qui-Gon doesn't show a lot of emotion he does sometimes express when upset in his voice, but not yelling at people. Obi-Wan is almost 17 in the book which means in the Jedi order is the age limit for Jedi younglings to become padawans or apprentices to a Jedi master and Obi-Wan is beginning to get frustrated towards Qui-Gon since he has not told Obi-Wan to become his apprentice.

  25. In the book Wonder the main characters name is August. He was born with a very rare syndrome which deformed his face and so he has had to have many surgeries which didn't do much because his face is still missed up. Even though he looks like this he is a smart kid and a little shy, but he is nice to everyone even though they may not be nice back. August has to deal with people who don't know him because they are staring at him or whispering to others about him. What motivates August is his name because they are always encouraging him, and they accept him for who he is. August is also a brave kid he pretty much learned to ignore people that do the staring and talking. I think if I saw August in real life for the first time I would be kind of shocked because I wouldn’t expect what he was going to look like but after that I don’t think I would have a problem with it and I would talk to him and if he touched me by accident I wouldn’t have to hurry up and wash my hands because it wouldn’t bother me. I would treat him as any other human being.

He is also described as good looking with sandy blond hair, dimples, freckles and Carmel eyes. I think a lot changed in Charlie when his brother died, and he became very distant from the rest of the world. A lot of what he does now / how he lives is because of Sam dying like him working at the cemetery and not being in a relationship. I feel like If Charlie was real, I would be friends he seems like a nice guy.
